Hi I have had a boil in the upper crease of my buttocks for well over a year now. It flairs up every month or so, I am in pain and then it bursts and the cycle starts again. I have spoken to my doctor about it, been on antibiotics and yet it still re-occurs. I can't afford to go to the doctor every other month and I have passed the stage of trying to clean it out etc - please help!

Mr Chris Arias
I have a wonderful girlfriend that has been diagnosed with ADD. This diagnosis was in place well before I met her. She has been prescribed adderall to treat the symptoms of this seemingly inconsistent and varied condition. My mother has a background in psychology and has worked with many people suffering from ADD or ADHD. I haven't included her in my exploration of this disorder, because of the personal boundaries I have set in my relationship with my girlfriend. However, I do remember her saying many a time that she felt a lack of discipline or proper parenting seemed to be a factor worth considering and that the psychs over-diagnose this condition. I don't think this lack of parenting is the case with my girlfriend. My mother worked with the patients on a behavioral level attempting to treat this disorder with a non-drug approach. I do not have a background in this and do not want to get involved in that way because of the complications it creates with our relationship. Here's the deal. I've witnessed my girlfriend perform many tasks, including maintaining good conversation with me and friends, involve herself in strenuous activities requiring concentration, put endless hours into building sites for herself and friends on the dreaded "MYSPACE", watch television programs with enough focus to "shush" me if I interrupt, wake up earlier than me to start her day, read books front to back, and write long letters to friends and family without the use of this drug. She says by not using the drug, adderall, she experiences fatigue, loss of motivation, inability to concentrate or focus, slight loss of motor skills, susceptibility to reacting emotionally, and that her relationships with her vast networks of friends suffer. We have been together for 8 months. I have easily spent 4 of those months with her on a day in day out basis. I have witnessed her feeling and behaving in these ways both on and off adderall. I have felt these "symptoms" myself to some degree or another throughout my entire life. I've experienced highs and lows, loss of motivation, depression at times, inability to focus ( at one point I could barely read a single paragraph without having to reread to retain any of it ). I've refrained from maintaining acceptable contact with my close friends for one reason or another. I also finished in the top 3 percent of a large school and now, with no pharmaceutical intervention, can read for hours upon hours. I have taken focus-enhancing drugs and will testify to the increase in my intellectual attentiveness, but have never felt the need to rely on them. I am an intelligent person, as is she...on or off adderall. My problem with the drug has become personal. I have never been an advocate of the use of pharmaceuticals unless absolutely necessary. The negatives of her prescription for me include: irritability, loss of sense of humor (there is an intellectual response that recognizes the fact that something is said in jest although no laughter follows), emotional disconnection and disassociation, the need for fixations like smoking, excessive caffeine intake, constant tapping or other jitters, and an overall inability to exercise any compassion when approaching the ins and outs of our relationship. I think everyone would love to take a wonder drug to enhance their performance in everything they do, but I don't think it's healthy or realistic.

-Is ADD over-diagnosed?

-Is there a reasonable approach to remedy this that doesn't involve drugs?

-What are the negative physiological effects of taking this drug?

-Am I crazy or is this creating an excuse for an otherwise normal ride on the spectrum of human feelings and behavior?

-Does this prescription allow for the individual to attack the problem on a personal level as I have or is it creating a dependency and not really dealing with the issue?

I'd love some feedback. I apologize for the lengthy post.

My GP has put me on dianette for excess facial hair and acne. I started a week ago and since then I've felt so unwell, nauseous all the time, lost my appetite, feel tired, bloated and depressed. I'm also forever flying off the handle!! To be honest I'd rather stick with the facial hair than to feel so awful. Is there any natural products on the market that has less extreme side effects? Years back I tried agnus castus and it was quite effective after many months, and I wonder if I should just stop taking this pill!

I had a treatment done on my hips and inner thighs for stretch marks called Coolbeam Laser. It's basically is a laser that takes off the top layer of skin to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. However, the doctor went a little to deep with the laser & now I have light patches on my hips and inner thighs. I am African American, and I would like to know how I can speed up the process of gaining color back in those areas. I use Aloe Vera, vitamin E oil...but it's not really working. What can I eat to help heal faster? Are there any specific vitamins I can take? Any creams?.. Please write back soon, please help.

Now dealing with horrible results of that surgery and all of a sudden - severe mood swings. What are you feelings on BHR. And what do I look for in trying to find someone good who does this? If not BHR, what would you suggest? I need to get my life back!!!!
