I have a cedar chest with the style no. 4303 and the serial no. of 051129 or 054429. I was told it was from the 1920s. It has a walnut exterior with burlwood accents, the front feet are a ball and claw shape and the back legs are straight. The interior is solid 3/4 inch cedar. Would anyone be able to determine the date and maker of the chest? thank you.

I would like to date a Caswell-Runyan cedar chest that I recently purchased at and antique store. It is in the Jacobean style and is in excellent condition. There is a patent seal inside for the metal seal that goes around the inside of the lid and top. It is dated 1929. Would this be the date of manufacturer?

I came across what I later discovered to be a butlers tray in a skip whilst working in London. It is made of wood and oval shaped, and at one time the sides would have folded up into a tray. The hinges are brass and the screw heads are all facing the same way. The middle of the table is inset and the wood as become dull over time, but I can imagine if the wood was polished it would look very nice. When was this type of butler tray first used, and how popular are they today amongst antique collectors?

I own a grandfather clock, and would like to find out more about the history of the clock and what the clock may be worth. The clock case is made out of oak with brass decor, It has a round brass dial with 2 key holes and the makers name on the dial Joseph Barnit, underneath the makers name is Birmingham. Its a lovely looking clock and I believe it to be made in the 18 century. I have tried the net but with no luck. I would much appreciate some more information on the clock.

I have an antique horses hoof, the top of the hoof has been encased in some sort of metal, (I can not see any hall marks on it) and their is a well in the top where matches go - it also has a small criss cross pattern on the front for striking the matches and just above this, the name 'Gift' has been engraved. The horse shoe is polished metal as well. Can anybody tell me more about this, is the name 'Gift' the name of the horse? How old would it be and was it common practice to make ornaments out of horses hoofs?
