Few questions about the MAC.

first:

Is there any software which is exactly like Emule (but NOT limewire!) which is suitable for MAC ?

Second: when I download movies from limewire and trying to play them on my MAC through the quick time player ,or realplayer - I get just a white screen, and (in quick time player it says that i need an additional soft are as Xvid) which I've tried to download, but i couldn't install it on my MAC, as it seems that something is missing in the components of the MAC itself, and most of the programs/software are cant be installed in their usual way, and when I open their folders and clicking on the 'install' icon- it opens me a window with a long text instead of installation itself, same thing with a zip. files or movies. just a texts, but could not get to the actual item itself.

Third question :

I tried to rip these movies I have- to a DVD disc. but when I insert the CD- the MAC rejects them immediately. I tried both of formats , as a DVD - ,and DVD +. but no success.

also tried to erase the Cd's with a movies on them..but still, no success.

it seems, like something important is missing in the whole components of my laptop and I cant figure out what it is exactly.

Went through the mac-book, explanations and all they say there - I tried to do concerning each of these problems..but it doesn't works as it says in the book..

Could you please recognize what kind of problem could be in all of these cases here?

Thanks in advance

E.

First of all I've already asked Mr. Paddy Ryan this question. But there is no way to continue a question with the same expert that you were asking before. Apple's disk utility program will no longer run or should I say complete when I run it. I think this started when I downloaded a program and didn't bother to uninstall it using the uninstall option. I just trashed it. I had many problems. I got rid of a lot of the problems by downloading the program again and then uninstalling it again. But it still won't completely run the disk utility program. I'm running 10.2.8 on a G4. 2G of ram. 1 Ghz processor speed.

I've already tried running diskwarrior 3.0.2 and disk doctor on Norton utilities 8.0. Norton utilities only found a few minor errors. Or maybe it was a lot of minor errors. But still it was only minor errors.

The disk utility program won't check permissions. What I mean by that is permission check just will sit there checking and keep on running for hours. I've tried running repairing permissions with cocktail. It says, "Won't or can't repair permissions on hard drive." I've already lost another program: Photo shop elements 2.0. It tries to download an update but just stalls with the multi-color whell. My e-mails thinjim777@yahoo.com because we probably won't be able to continue a conversation here.TIA
