I have an oil painting that has been stuck onto a thin piece of self adhesive board, which is covered in air pockets. I have tried to press it back without success. The canvass comes away from the board easily. What is my best solution please?

I'm doing a study of artists and their work for college and I was wondering what was the name of that artist who stood perfectly still in an art gallery and let people do anything they wanted to her? Sorry couldn't put that question any better! I think her art had something to do with her own pain threshold. Crazy stuff! And also if possible could you name some of her work? I know she also did some peices which be considered as more "conventional" art.
