Mr andrew mason
3 weeks ago Yorkshire water did some road repairs outside my house and blocked access off completely leaving me unable to go to work, as I am self employed this has cost me money, the job I was supposed to be going to got someone else to do it cos I let them down. The job I was supposed to be doing was for a friends auntie and uncle, I gave them a quote but put it in my friends name. Yorkshire water wont compensate me without talking to my friends auntie and uncle but they refuse me to give their details to Yorkshire water which I understand considering I let them down. Because the quote was in my friends name is my contract with him and therefore thats who Yorkshire water should be talking to to make sure the job was due to take place?

any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I have a property in France that is being renovated. Its 150 year old stone built. I need to install floor joists to create a bathroom ceiling, with bedroom above. If I want to undertake this myself how do I undertake the task? Should I knock holes in the stone work and slot the joists in, or use hangars? If I slot the joists in how do I ensure that all joists are level and square? How do the professionals do it???

Regards

Rob

On Wednesday I had cavity wall insulation done........today Sunday, I turned the hot water on, but the back boiler will not kick in, nor will it kick in for heating........yes the flame is lit under the fire, and the isolator is not on......so question being, is the boiler to blame or the wall insulation (I need to know who to call!) .......may seem a bit of a daft question but I've got visions of the flue being filled with insulation (can this even happen?!

I'm a property developer and have set up a partnership with a friend. We've had a major fall out with the buyer and now things have turned ugly. The issue in question is we are due to complete on Monday and he has now just informed us that one of the patio doors is damaged. We previously issued him with a written guarantee for workmanship. Can he hold up the sale and demand us to replace this door?

On an extension to the bedroom and bathroom of my property 2 parallel RSJ's were used to bear the load of the new upper cavity wall. They are approx 13 ft 6 ins long. They are supported on padstones on each of the internal breeze block part of the lower cavity wall, but only to a depth of approx 1/2 the width of the breeze block.

Is this in accordance with building regulations?

Thanks

Bob.
