DEAD MAN'S HAND A poker hand consisting of two black aces, two black eights, and the queen of hearts is known to professional poker players as a "dead man's hand." The hand got its name after the murder of the U.S frontier scout, town marshal, and gunfighter Wild Bill Hickok (1837 -76) This was the hand Hickok was holding when he was shot in the back in August 1876 during a poker game in a saloon at Deadwood in the Dakota Territory. As the story goes he was the last of four players to be seated, and it was the only time he had been known to sit with his back to the door. Hickok asked his fellow gamblers if the would change places with him, but they refused to do so because of a superstition that it might spoil their luck. Hickok's killer was an old enemy of his Jack McKall, who the previous day had lost $500 to Wild Bill in a poker game. Hickok is buried in Mount Moriah cemetery in Deadwood, South Dakota.

When playing Black Jack at the casino, can some one please explain to me how the odds are in favour of the dealer? Which they surely must be even if only by 1% or 2%.

You would presume that the odds would be in favour of the player as the player doesn't have to stick on 17 and over, or have a card on 16 or under. Thanks
