My three year old son took our 8 week little girl cat and tossed her in the air while I was at the door with a solicitor, when I turned around the cat had already landed, was bleeding through her nose and had diarrhea. Should I take her to the VET??

I am house sitting for my girlfriend, she has three cats one of them has what seems to be... I don't know,,let me describe the symptoms: started out a couple of weeks ago with what seemed to be nasal discharge, she also looked poor and seemed a bit disoriented. I had not seen her in a while but when I went yesterday to start feeding the cats ... she now has sluffed off half her nose and is very congested and wheezing badly. The nose looks a red and bloody and you can see into her nasal cavity where part of it has sluffed off. She eats fine and doesn't seem to have lost any more weight but it sure looks painful and seems to hurt (as she won't let me touch it), I know they have not taken her to the vet, so I thought I'd try asking first before I do!!

My cat is 17 yrs old and is very wobbly and collapses intermittently and does not walk further than the kitchen door in order to go out to her business although as we are out at work all day means a few accidents in the kitchen..normally she would be outside all day but as she is not well we have kept her in. Think she has had CVA`s which the vet also thinks. Have no qualms re: euthanasing but want to do it at the right time for her. She is eating but has started to purr when not stroked or tickled under the chin and I know this can be a sign of distress as well as contentment. Is it her time to go?

I think my son may have tried to poke out our new kitten's eye. The kitty was fine until he went upstairs to play w/ her, but then my son came down saying the cat had half an eye. My daughters went up to find the kitty had a bit of a bloody nose and was sneezing. Also, her eye was quite large and bulbous. My husband and I were out of town, by the time we came home, the sneezing had stopped and the swelling had gone down a bit. The kitten doesn't appear to be in pain and will let you touch the area, but makes a small meow if you put pressure on the eye.

1. What should I do about the kitten? I would like to toy to take care of her at home and try any possible remedy before taking her to the vet.

2. How long should I wait before taking her to the vet? If the swelling goes down at a regular wait, perhaps she'll heal herself?

3. What should I do about my son? He is four, but knows better than to hurt an animal. Is this normal behavior? How do I go about discussing this with him and ensuring it doesn't happen again?

Hello, my cat has been refusing to eat now for a month and we are force feeding her with a syringe. Sometimes she keeps it down but most of the time she brings it all back up again with white foam. She has been to the vets and they don't seem to know what is wrong with her. She is an elderly cat and we don't want to give up on her. It's like she wants to eat but she can't. Have you any advice on what to do now and how we can help? Thank-you

My 14 year old female cat has been removing hair from her tummy and legs for the last three summers, and it grows back in the winter. She is not stressed and the spray from the vet for stress was ineffective. She is now demanding food regularly and is not gaining weight - there must be other reasons other than stress. Her skin appears to irritate her suddenly - all the time.

I have a 16 year old cat who weighed 12 lbs two years ago, but is now down to 8.7 lbs. She eats, drinks and acts normal. Her body functions have not changed. Is it normal for older animals to lose weight as they age? If not what can I do to help her put some weight back on?

I recently found a half-starved cat sitting on my doorstep. I brought her in, fed her, and had her spayed. She's gained weight, and seems healthy and content. The problem is, I had another cat already, and he is fixed too. They don't seem to get along, but it's not the male that's being aggressive: it's the new female I just picked up. It's gotten to the point where I've had to keep her in my bedroom at night with her food and litter box so that she can't bother my other cat. But she's very playful at night, and won't let me get any sleep. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get these two acquainted enough to at least tolerate each other?

My indoor male cat keeps on whining, usually when he is in another room. At first I thought that is was because he was lonely, but now I think it is because he is almost a year old and has not yet been fixed, and since it is getting nice outside and there are females that live in a barn right outside our house that he is just wanting to go out and breed. Also I noticed that his penis was erect tonight when he had just awoke from a catnap on the sofa. Should that alone worry me? Also I am reading what is out there on these animal websites and I figure that it is high time he goes for his first vet visit but I am really worried that getting him fixed will change his temperament which for the most part is really nice right now, is that something that should concern me. Is it just humans that think that cats have a "resentment" towards us once we get them fixed, or do they adapt well and are they happier once they do not have that longing for the opposite sex anymore?

Do feline worms poke through the surface of the skin? My cat had what I thought was (and what looked like) a mole. But it started poking out further and further. My boyfriend pulled on it and it came out of her about an inch. She didn't squirm and didn't seem to hurt her. Was it a worm? or...?

I have a feral cat that has lived indoors with us for 13 years (she is between 15 and 17). She is not a cat you can pick up easily. Right now she has become very demanding about food we feed her 1/8 cup of dry at 6:00 am and again at 5:00 pm. Anytime I am in the kitchen she wants food. I will not give as I dont believe it is healthy. Is this a sign of aging? What else should I be looking for as she ages?

I have an 8 year old male cat, and for Christmas, my husband adopted a new 4 month year old female kitten. It has been a full week of my male cat hissing and cornering the kitten. For the first 4 days, I kept them separate, except occasional visits with the kitten in her cage. I also rub them with the same towel. My male cat seems so upset whenever she is around. He is just not liking this idea. Should I send the new pet back or is there something else I should try first? Please help.

When I pick up my 5 month old kitten, faeces start to come from her behind. She seems to be totally unaware of this, and when you put her into her tray, she doesn't want to use it and does not need to go. The faeces have gone back inside.

I have a two year old who loves to cuddle the cat, so I am anxious to know what is wrong, and how it can be stopped. Any ideas?

My cat has been irritated by what seems to be something in its ear, like a parasite or something ? I have looked in her ear numerous times with a light and magnifier but cant see anything? At 1st I suspected mites. Anyway today my cat seems to have lost her balance? She's very wobbly on her feet and it's not making her very happy. What's going on? I should have taken her to the vets but I didn't think... well. I just didn't think no excuses :( Obviously if she's not getting her balance back I will take her to the vets. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with these symptoms ?
