hi, I want some direction from networking expert, I have a 8 wire cable, I want to use that cable for 2 purposes: 1. for making a PC to PC connection (networking) 2. is to make a extend to the wire connection which is coming to room from the switch to that room. So I want direction for making RJ-45 for these purposes by using a single cable which would have 2 RJ-45 connectors on each end side. I know that we can make connection by using only 4 wires of the cable but don't know the combinations that are needed to make! Please help me!! Thanks.

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP on my computer. Over a period of days I have installed various programs. When wishing to check System Restore I find that no record exists on the calendar with the dates highlighted. Neither can I navigate to the previous month. I have checked that I am connected to System Restore and that it says that it is monitoring. I have switched System Restore off and then on again after closing down and the restarting. But nothing changes. Can someone help--Please! Ron Moss

I'd purchased a cheap hand held MP3 player of Chinese make ( it plays MP3, videos, FM radio, records sound in WAV format) with 1GB capacity. When I connect this to my PC (via USB), the explorer shows two removable disks/drives. One drive shows a capacity of 1GB and the other shows Zero. The first drive in in FAT format, while a right click on the second drive says that the drive is unformatted & do you want to format it now. The user manual advised against formatting the MP3 Player using a PC. But I went ahead and formatted the drive in FAT format. Now the MP3 player shows only one drive and the capacity has reduced to 452 MB of space. Now my question is how is this possible? In what manner does Flash memory differ from a conventional hard disk (apart from moving parts). Is it possible to limit the memory of a drive using some sort of software? Because I had formatted the drive & did not tinker with any hardware this must have been done using some software. PLEASE ADVICE.

I am having the following problem using a bluetooth dialup connection using my Ipaq. Okay, the modem dials silently when dialing straight from the computer, which is what I want, but when I connect and dial via the ipaq using bluetooth the modem is very loud. I have tried to see if there's anything in the bluetooth setup to change but can't find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Background: I'm a 30 year old male that first discovered the term "terabyte" about 15 years ago in a Computer Shopper magazine. I immediately made it my life goal to acquire said amount of storage (I was just a kid at the time, it sounded like a lot of space). Well, I will reach this goal soon and decided to research what comes next, my OCD furthered this to be 'what comes last'. Question: From byte through US Decillion bytes, can you help me fill in the gaps? Heck, can you help me take it past the US Decillion? (sorry for asking 2 questions) I have: Byte - one (bit just further complicates things, leaving it off for this list) Kilobyte - one thousand bytes Megabyte - one million bytes Gigabyte - one billion bytes Terabyte - one trillion bytes Petabyte - one quadrillion bytes Exabyte - one quintillion bytes Zetabyte - one sextillion bytes Yottabyte - this gets tricky. My research shows this is both one septillion and one octillion bytes :( Nonabyte* - one nonillion bytes Doggabyte* - one decillion bytes Nonabyte and Doggabyte don't seem widely accepted (yet?) but I am now to obsessed to stop short of the "end"

I'm running Windows XP SP2. When I download files using bittorrent, and at other random times, my DNS resolution goes bonkers. I.e., it freezes and absolutely refuses to resolve any address, giving me address not found errors for all URLs. Repairing the connection does not help at all. Connecting to IP addresses still works. I've gimmicked a stopfix, where I restart the DNS client service, but this is extremely annoying to do. Is there any permanent solution to repair my dns client so it doesn't keep screwing up whenever I download something?
