The pilot light of my gas water heater is not light, after one day without hot water there is water coming from the center tube of the tank, which is the place for hot air coming out, the water spring straight up into the metal pipe which is for hot air out. The tank suppose to have the small motor on top of the tank to suck the hot air out, but the handyman did not install this motor. It seems like the

water tank has overheat problem.

My question: is there any problem with the water tank?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there anything better than linseed oil putty for glazing glass to wood? I find that it is pretty useless stuff. Although painted with the rest of the frame at say 5 year intervals, it cracks in the sun and separates from the glass. This lets water in to rot the wood. How should it be treated?

I recently bled my radiators as not all were heating up properly (some just the bottom, some one side hotter). The house was only built this year and has a combi-boiler. I know nothing about boilers but we have a boiler in the garage that heats the water and the heating and no water tank, so this is why I think it's a combi.

Someone told me I should check the pressure is okay when the heating is off as I may have lost pressure while bleeding the radiators. I cannot see any way of telling this on the boiler as there are no dials and it is all digital?

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Clayton

I have just painted my dining room walls and the paint has started to peel / bubble. There are also a number of damp patches on these walls too which are dotted about - but not where the paint is coming off! The walls have been treated for damp and were replastered a number of months ago. The walls were then painted on with a masonry paint which seemed to be fine - the problems have only begun since I painted on top of this paint! Does anyone have any ideas on what the paint problem is or why there are damp patches half way up the walls??

Hi all,

Having recently moved home, I have inherited a very small toilet. No problem with that, it is only that the floor is a problem. The previous owners have put pebble like tiles, joined with what appears to be some form of concrete / adhesive on the floor. They are a bright blue and shiny. They will be a big problem to remove, and I do not know what I will find under them. As I do not particularly like the idea of blue in the toilet, I would like some ideas to change the colour. Can I paint them after proper preparation, or could I cover them with a very good quality vinyl or something similar? Would covering them result in any form of moisture forming? Any one got any ideas, or had a similar problem?

Many thanks for your help.

I am seeking guidance / advice on constructing a backyard

vanishing stream ".I would like it to be approx. 50-75 ft in length, starting from an earthen berm approx. 5 ft in height, 10 ft diameter w/ a waterfall falling about 2 ft. into a gradual stream approx. 3 ft wide at the "vanishing" end I plan on burying a plastic holding tank with some sort of filter b4 the water goes into tank. I know I need some sort of landscape fabric to hold dirt in place. I am using various sizes of limestone over dirt. I also know I need some type of rubber? to place where stream flows. What kind/size of pump ?diameter of plastic tubing to generate water ? Will rain overflow tank ? I desire a "babbeling brooke ", not rushing water. There is not much of a slope in backyard, so it will be a gradual decline. And to add-- I am seeking to DIY as cheaply as possible. Recycling/improvising whenever possible. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED , I have searched EVERYWHERE, libraries, web site etc. to no avail, Thank You--Goodday

Mr Thomas Wakeman
I'm installing a new soil pipe for my bathroom, which I am rearranging, Having dug up the soil around my sewer (at the side of my house), I have found two vitrified clay pipes entering the sewer. Both go vertically along the back of my house underneath the wooden extension. One goes up the wall to the toilet, the other goes to a gully (formerly taking the waste for the bathroom). The problem is that, the pipe going to the gully has a hole smashed into it, which has cracked it all the way around and a plastic water supply pipe pushed through it. This connects to a metal water pipe in the hole. I presume this somehow goes to my garden tap on the back of my house. The problem is, that I need to disconnect this unused gully drain pipe from the sewer and put my new soil pipe in. It would appear that the water pipe is leaking inside the old gully drain pipe, because a small amount of water is running through this pipe, seeping through the crack, filling up the hole, then overflowing into the sewer, so if I disconnect it, the leaking water is going to stock up under the ground.

What do I do? Do I need to cut off this water pipe and redirect the water pipe to my garden tap? (I'd rather not do this, because I'd have to dig up my garden to reroute the pipe.

Is there any way of fixing the leaking water pipe inside the old drain pipe? Please can someone help.
