The company I work for now doesn't pay it's employees for split shifts. In the California Wage poster that we have posted in our employee area, it does state that one hour of split shift pay must be paid if you are required to work more than one shift per day. At my 2 previous jobs, they paid those, so how can I get my companies attention on this matter? I have worked quite a few of these split shifts and I know a lot of my co-workers have as well, and we are not being paid for them.

I work for a hotel in Columbus Ohio. At the end of every shift we are to count the drawer and make a drop, leaving the drawer with $250.00. I did so last week and left my drawer $0.08 over. After close of shift I had not touched the drawer. When 2nd shift came in and counted the drawer it was $20.00 short. My manager told me that he was going to take it from my pay. I asked him to check the cameras and my paper work and my drop. He did so and found nothing but is still taking it out of my check. I am not the only one that has access to the drawer. It is never locked so anyone has access to it. I am not the only this has happened to. I was not told at hire date that if our drawer was short that it would be deducted from our pay, nor did I sign anything agreeing to such an action. Is this legal?

OK, here it is; I was fired from my job because I had a phone conversation with another person who worked for the same company and told him I was going to call our local fire marshall and tell him that our boss was still dumping brush and leaves in the back wood and said he was a bad manager. A week or two went by and the boss called and said that he was told what I said and I was fired. Is this legal in New Jersey?

I am a server and I was injured at work. Workman’s comp covers only 2/3 of a server’s claimed tips, which in my case is about $100/week (a far cry from my usual $500+/week earnings). Because of this I have decided to work as a host at my restaurant to earn slightly more money. My questions is, even though my company will be paying my emergency room bills and they will not be paying me with workman’s comp, does my company have to drug test me, and if so, how long do they have to do so?

I am searching for labor and employment law violations in the workplace for Oregon. I work under constant fearful conditions of retaliation even if I question a policy or procedure management has specified verbally. I have never received a documented handbook or policy and procedures manual. I work as a food server in a restaurant, and apparently, we have very little protection under Oregon labor laws. I am dealing with bias, slander, and preferential treatment based on age. I can not afford at this time to quit my job, and I am fearful of loosing it, as I have seen employees fired for questioning policies and procedures. Management plays favorites, and this effects other servers income. I appreciate any help or direction I can get. Thanks so much.
