Tom
Hi, I'm 17 and I have left school after completing a 1 year course at 6 form there. I am currently unemployed and living with my parents. For the last 4 months I have been searching for an apprenticeship, however I have been unsuccessful until my dad found an opening at a company he works alongside. He managed to get me an interview with them and before long I was given the job. However I was asked to wait at least a month before I could start the apprenticeship because they needed to employ an experienced worker to take me on. Its been 5 weeks now and they have just informed me that they have been unable to employ somebody and that I will not be able to work with them. I must say I feel quite annoyed that this has happened because I could have easily got a different job in that time and already be working by now. So now I have no money what so ever as my parents are refusing to support me while I search for a job and I'm too young to apply for a job seekers allowance. So I have no income and my girlfriend (who is still in school and getting many through an education allowance of £10 a week called EMA) has had to be giving me money because I have none. This is obviously very frustrating for her since she is running low on money now but luckily her parents are supporting her until she can get a job. However this also mean that I cant take her out places which I haven't done in a long time. I need help. I dont know what to do. I need money

I have just worked 8 hours training and an actual 5 and a half hour shift and the manager has now said he isn't taking me on because I live 20 minutes away from the business and he wants someone who is more flexible. I have a 1 year old son and found it challenging to find childcare that would take my son at 6am but the job I applied for was afternoon shifts. I want to know if I am entitled to be paid for the 8 hours training I have done and the 5 and a half hour shift I have done too?

My question is sick days. I work 3 days per week Mon Tues weds, 7hrs per day. My employer has deducted from my company sick days Xmas day and boxing day of last year as I was off due to an operation. I was off sick on the Tues and Weds of August bank holiday, they have also counted the Monday as a sick day Is this correct, I have asked them about this any they say that if you are sick either side of a bank holiday it counts as sick days? Please advise. With thanks.

I have worked for a Quebec company for almost a year on a series of 3-month contracts. My current contract expires on March 30, and they have now offered an extension to June 29th. But I have been offered another job on a longer term contract. By Quebec law, do I have to give 2 weeks' notice, or could I simply decline the offer of the extension and state that I will be leaving at the end of the current contract?
