A while back I had taken out a payday loan through ACE. I then fell onto some hard times and my job started cutting back everyone's hours because we were not making money. I then had to get a new job. Today I got a call from their legal mediation team of lawyers in Florida telling me that if I don't pay by Sunday night at midnight they will come to my job and have me arrested. I told them I could pay the full amount in two weeks since I start my new job on Monday. They said because I live in California I will be going to jail on Monday is this true?

I live in Wisconsin and I heard it's a "no fault state". About a week ago I rear ended a car because it had to stop suddenly in front of me. Neither me or the other driver had insurance and my car wasn't registered at the time. The lady I rear ended tells me I have to pay for the damages to her car since I hit her. But since neither of us have insurance do I have to pay for the damages to her car?

Last June I went to the emergency room with all the symptoms of a stroke. Over a few hours they subseded. They admitted me but did not check on me all night . I have all the records including nurses notes and MARS. I starting suffering the same symptoms when I awoke at 7 am. They ordered a STAT MRI which I never had still after 1 pm. I had a blood clot deep in my thalumus and was left paralyzed on the right side. The lawyer said that in Ohio you have to have a doctor sign off saying you do have a case and wants 3000k up front. I am on disability and don't have that kind of money. He feels I have a case. I only have to June 8th to file or I can't. Any thoughts?

So I was arrested for retail theft however I didn't steal anything, the cashier claims to have seen me put something in my pocket (which my pants had no pockets) and that I never purchased anything and tried to leave. She stopped me at the door and roughly asked that I hand them back. I told her I didn't know what she was talking about I didn't have anything, I had just bought two items from the store, a hairbrush and a bracelet but that I had no earrings. She took the earring backs from the earrings in my purse (which were silver) and tried to say I had stolen 3 pairs of earrings (all black) presenting to the security guy the one earring she found on the floor and the 2 backs she had taken from me. After an empty search I was told to wait that I was going to be arrested. Later I read the report to see that one of the cashiers(the one who rung me up wasn't on there and that they lied saying I had never purchased anything. (the lady who rang me up had her baby with her and no tag so I think she may not have even worked there. Should I plead guilty like they said I should and take the rap or plead not guilty and fight it?

Hello, I am in a dispute with my hometown selectmen regarding the towns enforcement of the zoning laws. I read the state RSA adopted by the town and feel they are ruling on their own dismissing the intent of the RSA the town adopted and written by the state. I paid and went before the zoning board of adjustment which sided with the selectmen. I would like to know if NH has someone at the state level that I can discuss this with and determine if the town is correctly enforcing this zoning issue. I am aware that I can bring this to Superior Court for a judgement but cannot due to the cost. Do you know if NH has someone at the state level I could discuss this with rather than Superior Court? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.....

Who do I contact about a construction job that was contracted by the maintenance department of my homeowners association? The job was never assessed and three men were sent out to do a one man job. A 4'X4' piece of 3/8th" thick exterior plywood and two 2"X2" X 4' pieces of trim were replaced.

I was charged $45 per hour for 17 hours. They are going to put a lien on my condo. I have talked to several repair people and have pictures. All feel I was grossly overcharged and feel 6-8 hours max. would have been reasonable. I have gone to the association board and the general manager but they are supporting the fees. Two men stood around for approx. 5 hours while the other went to get the materials less than a mile away. I would gladly pay what is fair but this is outrageous. Please give me some direction as to who or where I can turn to?

Thank You,

I had a 401k account with a previous employer which was closed in 2004. The bank had sent me a check for the balance, which was inadvertently unopened and misplaced when my home was flooded during Hurricane Frances in 2004. I have recently found the check but have not tried to cash it. It says "void after 180 days". A friend of mine was divorced within about the last 7 years. Part of her divorce agreement was that her husband make sure the house that they basically had "squatter's rights" over be put in her name (no one knows where the previous legal owner is.) He has never done this. She makes very little money, and can't afford to go to an attorney. She continues to pay all of the property taxes, but reaps no benefits of being a land owner. In NY we have the Star Program, which gives us a big tax break on school taxes; she doesn't qualify, as the property is not in her name. There are also home improvement grants available, but she cannot qualify for them either due to the fact that the property has not been put in her name. Her ex is a real jerk, and gets very nasty to her and the kids when confronted about such things. He just dropped their two 18 years olds from his insurance, and they're still in high school. Can you please advise?

I allowed a friend to move into my house with me back in November after he was kicked out of his other residence. He has been living here without a written or verbal lease. He only sporadically provides money to me for bills. There is no regular rent schedule or agreed upon amount. We have been fighting for a while now and I have asked him to move out. He has refused. Since there was never any rent agreement am I still required to file for eviction with the court and give him a 30 or 60 notice?

Our house was sold for back taxes , in Oklahoma, we didn't know that we owed them from 03. We have been living in another state for almost a year but still kept the house there since it was payed for. we left alot of our belongings in the house when we left because we went back and forth. the house was sold a month ago and we just found out, when someone saw them taking things out of the house and let us know. Do we have a legal right to our belongings. We didn't abandon them just, lived in two different places at the same time. I am very upset at the thought of them taking my things. The tax office said that we have a right to our things but the people that bought the house haven't called us back. What do we do? and if they took our things can we get them back?

A friend of mine went to a rent to own store and purchased a TV. She fell on hard times and was unable to fill the remainder of her lease and has also moved with the TV. Since I was someone she used as a reference they are constantly calling me leaving messages for her. They are threatening to press charges against her for theft. Is this true? She is planning on paying them back once she finds a job, but since she has paid all but a few hundred dollars, she doesn't want to loose the TV. She said she will call them when she has the money that they can not press charges, it will only go against her credit? Is this true?

My Husband and I moved to another state 2 years ago. We had been successfully treated for heroin addiction for 10 years with Methadone. A clinic was opening where we were moving to, and I was in contact with them for several months previous to moving, to assure that they would open when they said they would. Our clinic, would not send our transfer papers until they received an official opening date from the new clinic which they gave them. I expressed my concerns to the new clinic many times before moving, and they assured me that they would open on schedule. We moved up, they didn't open until 4 months later. I was a nurse for many years and the ineptitude was unreal, no one would help us, and we actually had to go out and find illicit drugs because we were so ill from methadone withdrawal. I went through all the money I had saved. and the incident still haunts me terribly. Can I sue?

So I am going to submit it again. I am filing a law suit in civil court. I have all the paper work in which to do so, my question is on the paper work, do I need to include the $ amount I am seeking on this paper work. Or do I wait until the hearing to mention the $ amount?

Thank You,
