There are loads of different chocolate cake recipes - a basic one which is based on a Victoria sponge is 4 ounces of flour/cocoa 1 tsp baking powder 4 oz butter/ 2 large eggs and 4 oz sugar. You do 3 oz of flour and 1 oz cocoa powder. So you mix like a Victoria sponge - beating sugar and butter till sugar dissolved and colour changes to light yellow. then add in egg a little at a time and if it curdles you put in a little flour until all the egg and flour mix is in. Cook for about 30 mins in a fan assisted oven in two 7 inch sandwich tins. When cool put chocolate butter icing in the middle and drizzle real chocolate on the top.
